The 1872 Society
Since 1872, Chambliss Center for Children has helped shape the lives of generations of Chattanoogans. The 1872 Society honors the friends who carry that work forward by including Chambliss Center in their estate plans.
A planned gift is one of the most lasting ways to make sure Chattanooga remains a place that cares for its most vulnerable children and families. Below are answers to the questions we hear most often. If you don't see yours, we'd love to talk.

“We support the 1872 Society, because we want to honor the legacy of this agency and the thousands of children they have helped over the decades. It is important to both honor that legacy, and to help provide for the children who will need its services into the future. We believe that by assigning one of our life insurance policies to Chambliss Center for Children, we are doing just that. It feels really good to know that this action on our part might help provide a child with a better start to life and bring them hope.”

The 1872 Society recognizes individuals and families who have included Chambliss Center for Children in their estate plans. It's named for the year of our founding. Members help ensure our care for Chattanooga's children continues for generations to come.

Anyone who has made a planned gift to Chambliss Center for Children, or intends to, is welcome.

No. Sharing an amount is entirely optional, though an estimate helps us plan for the future.

Yes. If you prefer, we will not list your name in any public recognition.

No. The Letter of Intent simply lets us know about your plans. You can update or change your plans at any time as your circumstances change.

Yes. You may designate your gift to a program you care about, or leave it unrestricted so it can meet the greatest need when it's received. We're happy to talk through options.
