Chambliss Center for Children’s President/CEO, Phil Acord, has been working at the agency for 47 years. Set to retire on the date of his 50th Anniversary with the agency in 2021, Phil has built a legacy at Chambliss Center for Children. Recently as part of StoryCorps, he sat down with Vice President, Katie Harbison, to discuss his time here and a look at how things have changed in the childcare industry during that time. Tara had a plan, and it was working. She was just about to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Organizational Management, and her 10-year old daughter, Savanna, was happily settled in elementary school.
Fran and her husband Joey are one of Chambliss Center for Children’s special foster families. Having been in a wonderful foster home briefly as a child, Fran knew she wanted to provide a caring, stable environment for other children in need.
It all started 20 years ago when Martha’s daughter was enrolled at Chambliss Center for Children so she could work two jobs- one as a library assistant at UTC, and another at a fast food restaurant.
